The City of Virginia Beach is committed to eliminating fraud and maintaining a highly ethical environment throughout our organization.
The City’s Fraud, Waste and Abuse Prevention Program, coordinated by the Office of the City Auditor, consists of fraud reporting mechanisms, awareness training and investigation services. This program is designed to assist City employees, departments, agencies and programs in preventing and detecting incidents of fraud, waste and abuse in the City of Virginia Beach. This program focuses on dishonest acts by the City's employees or contractors.

The Office of the City Auditor does not investigate routine personnel issues such as employee grievances or complaints relating to civil rights, sexual harassment and equal employment.
The Office of the City Auditor works in conjunction with the Virginia Beach Police Department, the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office and other law enforcement agencies when appropriate.
If you have information related to suspected fraud, waste or abuse within City of Virginia Beach operations, please report it to the Office of the City Auditor immediately. You may contact us in a number of ways, depending on what is convenient for you. Please be as specific as possible when describing the situation. Communication with us is confidential. If you wish to remain anonymous, please send us a detailed description through the mail.

The Office of the City Auditor is located in Room 3017 in Building 1 at the Municipal Center. Our office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Call the Fraud Hotline at (757) 468-3330, which may be accessed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Voicemail will be activated on holidays, weekends and whenever staff is unavailable to answer calls. Callers may remain anonymous. Caller ID and call-back features have been disabled to maintain confidentiality. Our office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
